Homework is based on the course sequence. The sections to be taught are listed by weeks. The homework for those section is always due after the review. It is your responsibility to read the course information and attempt to do the problems on your own, or seek out tutoring assistance. I cannot possibly teach EVERYTHING you need to know during the class time. Read, take notes, get a peer tutor! Your homework is always odd numbered problems 1...3...5...7....9 etc...
I would recommend that you turn in all your homework complete and on time, but I understand "life happens." For those instances, I will accept late homework, but your will on receive 1/2 credit for late work. Each homework assignment is worth 10 pts. Late homework will be given 5 pts. All homework must be complete. You will not be given any points for an incomplete assignment!
Yes! Yes! Yes! You can earn extra credit a couple of different ways. For each homework assignment you may be assigned only the "odd numbered" questions. If you do "all" the questions you will be given an addition 5 pts. You can also receive an additional 5 pts for every practice test you complete and turn in before the chapter test is given.
If you are on the borderline between grades on a test, I will use extra credit points to move you up a grade. That is only if you are on the borderline by 1 or 2 points. This is for all tests including your final exam. Since I drop your lowest test score and may adjust your test based on extra credit, doing extra credit assignments can significantly influence your grade for the class.
Yes and no. If we are following the course sequence you will have a test during the time mid-terms grades are due. Your test score for that test will be your mid-term grade. I do not give a mid-term that reviews all the math you have learned up to that point. I use quizzes for that purpose.
Under no circumstances can you make up a quiz. If you make prior arrangments you can make up a test. I will place your test in the tutoring center and you have one week from the time I place the test in the tutoring center to take the test. If you do not take the test during that week, you will receive a zero for that chapter test grade.
You can call me on my cell phone and leave a message, but it is much better to email me since I never check my voice messages. If you email you have proof that you contacted me as well. But if you are going to miss several classes, I would suggest that you either drop the course or get a tutor to keep up with the course work.
As an adjunct instructor, teaching is not my primary job. I work a regular 9 to 5 job too. But I will schedule tutoring sessions that last no more than one hour on Mondays and Wednesdays if you need additional help. These sessions must be pre-arranged and cover a specific area.
Well for starters you can attend every class and do all your homework following the homework guidelines that are given here. You can stop falling asleep and don't text your friends and family while I'm teaching. You can stop telling me how much you hate math, stop complaining about how much homework I give, and stop trying to do all that homework the Sunday night before class. You can bride me with Dove chocolate and make me very happy by actually learning the math I'm trying to teach you. :)
Of course. You can ask me any math or class related question you like via email, in class or whenever you see me passing by. I will be happy to answer your questions and keep you informed.
Always check Cloud's website for semester calendars and other college related information.
